Power Underground

DWP is pulling a burned transformer out of a concrete box. All of the transformers and cable are being replaced.

Giant Gophers?

Part of the lot preparation, gravel aggregate for the "foundation" underneath the coach.

We are reminded that our homes are on a temporary power grid by the many DWP trucks and men working.

Growing Pile

The pile of concrete is growing! It's got to be 3 or 4 stories tall.

Oakridge Panorama

This is looking south across the park. Rebuilding is going so slow. People waiting for their new homes are starting to complain but of course there is nothing that can be done to speed the process up.

Space 418

Another home has been brought in and is in the process of being set up. This is number 7. All of these new homes have been brought in by Realtors. There are still no owner owned homes in the park. It looks like it will be at least September before that can happen.

Space 105

Bob and Art survey their patch of dirt. They must be checking out the view, "my window will be here looking out over this way, and the living room will be here . . . " Their space is #105, they used to, and will again, have the nicest yard in the park.

Painting

We had "Paul the Painter" come and paint our house on Friday and Saturday. He brings a crew of 8 or 10 guys and they spent one day preparing and the second day painting. By sundown on Saturday they were done. They didn't fill and cover the holes in the trim caused by boarding up the windows as well as I like so I'll be after him to fix that.

Call Back

The Gas man said he didn't like the flame in the furnace and then failed the heater. So Mediterranean gets the dreaded call back. Turns out this technician couldn't decide if there was a problem or not and called for his supervisor. I hope this comes together soon.

The Gas is On!

The Gas Co. came out this morning and turned on the gas. Now we have hot water but he failed the heater.

Burned Cars

While driving around Loretta and I came upon the pile of cars that were unclaimed by the owners. Management says there are up to 60 cars left on their driveways after the park closed for clean up.

More Cars

Each car has a number on it to identify which space it was removed from.

Stanley Steemer

What a truck!! It's a giant vacuum that can suck the paint right off the walls.
The vents and ducts look good as new.

Manual Labor

No matter how much new technology a company has, it still comes down to this. Manual labor!

Castle Carpet, Inc.

Dad and Dick Styke, President of Castle Carpet, shake to seal the deal.

Castle Carpet, Inc.

So here we are at Castle Carpet choosing the new carpeting for our place. It went much quicker than I anticipated. Dad walked up to the carpet display, flip through the samples until he found one he liked and said, "This is the one."

Old Glory

Among the ruins a flagpole was left undamaged.

Menorah Tree?

All of the pine trees are making a come back. I thought this one looks like a Menorah.

5 down, 495 to Go

And yet another new home is being set up. I thought this was a unique look into a "double wide".
